CALPE is a town in Alicante, Spain where dozens and dozens of beaches lie. Take note that all of these beach resorts are given blue flag accreditation by the European Union, making it an eco-friendly beach. This means that the management of these beaches will constantly remind you through signs and verbal warnings that littering is not permitted. This also means that off road vehicles, which are more common in rural Spain and ideal for unpaved roads at the beach’s outskirts, are not permitted at the beach itself. Many tourists also flock to Calpe because of the Ifach Rock dominating the beaches. Ifach Rock is declared as a national park. Ifach Rock is towering at 332 meters and it is known as the Northern Rock to distinguish it from an equally prime tourist destination, Gibraltar or the Southern Rock.

There are over 300 species of animals, including birds, inhabiting the Ifach Rock but these can be seen by tourists. Abundant carnation and orchid species also dwell there. If you want to have a panoramic glimpse of the marina, then you must climb in a zigzagging trail towards the peak of Ifach Rock. It can be reached either from the A-7 highway or the N-332 national road. Interesting architectures in Calpe include Reina Sofia’s baths, the flooded salt flats, the La Peca tower and a sanctuary for migratory birds. In Calpe, there will be a fish auction in the afternoons as fisherfolk have just finished their Mediterranean round for the day. There will be the Three Kings festival every January 5, the German carnival every end of February, the St. Joseph’s Day every March 19, the San Juan celebrations every June 24, the feast of La Virgen del Carmen every July 16, the Virgen de Las Nieves feast every August 5, the beer festival in October and the Moors and Christians battle commemoration every end of October.

A typical hotel in Calpe has a night porter with a twin room rate of $135 and a room for four at $182 a night. All rooms have cable television, telephone and hair drier. You will just pay a minimal extra charge for a fridge and a vault combination safe. The restaurant menus feature fried potato chips, fresh mixed salad and sauces used include Gaelic sauce which is made of onions, beer, wild mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, whiskey and herbs and Provencal sauce which is made of red wine, tomatoes, green and red sweet peppers, onions and of course provencal herbs.

If you want to buy property in Calpe, then scout around the place at night. A neighborhood especially those ones near the beaches may look serene during the day but may become quite noisy at night. Also look for hidden costs. A house may look sturdy on the outside but inside, it’s already infested with mice, cockroaches or worse, termites. Discreetly inquire about the neighbors whether they’re friendly and approachable.
